Alesse birth control is a combination hormone medication that is primarily used to prevent pregnancy. It works by preventing sperm from reaching an egg and the fertilized eggs from attaching to the uterus. This medication is also used to regulate the menstrual cycle, decrease blood loss and painful periods, reduce the risk of ovarian cysts, and to treat acne. Alesse 28 will not protect you or your partner from STIs or STDs.
How do you use Alesse birth control?
Alesse 28 should be taken by mouth as directed by a doctor. The tablets should be taken in order, once daily at the same time each day. Alesse 28 comes with 21 pills of active medication and 7 pills of inactive medications. After taking the last active medicated pill, take the inactive pills once daily for 7 days. If this is your first time using this medication, use an alternative non-hormonal birth control for the first 7 days.
